Napoleon bookmark with bronze decorations representing Napoleonic emblem engraved with bees. Symbol of immortality, bees were discovered in 1653 in Tournai on Childeric I tomb, founder in 457 of the Merovingian dynasty. They are considered the oldest emblem of France sovereigns. According to a Breton legend, bees were generated from Christ’s tears on the cross. The design is inspired by the neoclassical style.
